چکیده
Natural gas hydrate is a new clean energy source in the 21st century, which has become research point of exploration and development technology. Acoustic well logs are one most important assets studies. In this paper, an improved Carcione–Leclaire model proposed by introducing expressions frame bulk modulus, shear modulus friction coefficient between solid phases. On basis, sensitivities velocities attenuations first kind compressional (P1) (S1) waves to relevant physical parameters explored. particular, we perform numerical modeling investigate effects frequency, saturation clay on phase above five waves. The analyses demonstrate that, P1 S1 more sensitive than other parameters. larger saturation, reliable velocity. Besides, velocity saturation. Further, almost nondispersive while their increase with second (P2) (S2) third wave (P3) dispersive seismic band, them significant. Moreover, case grain frame, hydrate-bearing sediments exhibit lower velocities. Clay decreases attenuation P1, S1, P2, S2 P3 little effect content. We compared predicted log data from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Leg 164 Site 995B verify applicability model. results agree data. Finally, estimate layer at ODP 204 1247B about 100–130 m below seafloor, 0–27%, average 7.2%.

Ultrasonic Velocities in Laboratory-formed Gas Hydrate-bearing Sediments
Gas Hydrates are widely distributed in the near surface at high latitudes and many ocean bottoms. Our laboratory measurements help calibrate the seismic and well log data that are used to ascertain the in situ distribution of hydrates. Ultrasonic velocities are measured in unconsolidated sand specimen under thermobaric conditions comparable to those found in shallow oceanic or permafrost region...
متن کاملFaulting of Gas-Hydrate-Bearing Marine Sediments — Contribution to Permeability
Extensive faulting is observed in sediments containing high concentrations of methane hydrate off the southeastern coast of the United States. Faults that break the sea floor show evidence of both extension and shortening; mud diapirs are also present. The zone of recent faulting apparently extends from the ocean floor down to the base of gas-hydrate stability. We infer that the faulting result...
متن کاملGeomechanical Constitutive Modelling of Gas-hydrate- Bearing Sediments
In this work and in order to consider theoretically the effect of gas hydrates on the mechanical properties of their host sediments, hydrate fraction was introduced as a state variable in the framework of a Critical State model. For the proposed model, the process of de-structuration and softening of natural clay was considered as a proxy for the gas-hydrate-bearing-sediments behaviour. The dev...

متن کاملObserved Gas Hydrate Morphologies in Marine Sediments
Small-scale morphology of gas hydrate is important for understanding the formation of gas hydrate deposits, for estimating the concentrations of gas hydrate from geophysical data, and for predicting their response to climate change or commercial production. The recent use of borehole pressure coring tools has allowed marine gas-hydrate-bearing sediments to be recovered with centimeter to sub-mi...
